With support from Horizon Power and the Department of Health WA, the Kidsafe WA team will be heading to the North West of WA to promote electrical safety and other child injury prevention messages to communities in the Kimberley and Pilbara.
Electricity is an essential part of our day-to day-lives, making it easy to become complacent when it comes to safety. Common injuries associated with electricity can be caused by damaged or worn electrical cords, faulty electrical appliances and light switches, or objects being inserted into power points. With most electrical injuries occurring in the home, it’s important to spread awareness of these injuries and to remind families how to use electricity safely.
Thanks to an ongoing partnership with Horizon Power, electricity safety has become a key part of Kidsafe WA’s home safety messages when delivering regional community workshops. Services on offer to regional communities include free community workshops for parents, carers, and child health professionals, along with school incursions for students in Kindy to Year 6. The Play@KidsafeWA playground safety services will also be on offer to child care centres, schools, local governments, and other playground providers.
Kidsafe WA will be visiting the following towns over the upcoming months:
- Kimberley: 12th – 16th September 2022
- Pilbara: 12th – 18th October 2022
If you are interested in having Kidsafe WA visit your community group or organisation during their visit to the Kimberley and Pilbara, please email Kristen@kidsafewa.com.au or call
