With the support of Lotterwest, Kidsafe WA created a series of short videos of common installation errors. At Kidsafe WA, we provide child car restraint checking services at multiple locations across Perth. Between 2016 and 2020, over 44 per cent of these checking appointments on child car restraints identified at least one installation error, with some having up to six installation errors.
Due to COVID and economic increases, child car restraint checking appointments became even more challenging for many families to attend. Through the Common Child Car Restraint Installation Error videos, Kidsafe WA can reach families experiencing social disadvantages such as financial hardship, those residing in rural and remote locations and new migrant families with cultural and linguistic diversity.
The easy-to-follow installation error videos cover:
- top tether straps;
- ISOFIX attachments;
- angular adjustment;
- seatbelt pathways; and
- harness and/or headrest configuration.
