Kidsafe WA, in conjunction with the WA Consumer Product Advocacy Network, published a research report examining child car restraint misuse and injury presentations to Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) because of motor vehicle accidents. The Child Car Restraint Misuse and Motor Vehicle Accident Injury Research Report identifies the most common child car restraint installation errors based on Kidsafe WA child car restraint fitting data. The report also highlights common trends in the injury presentation data provided by PCH. The report concludes with a series of recommendations to help decrease installation errors and provide greater education to parents and caregivers and ideas for the expanded data collection on child car restraint installation following an injury presentation to PCH.
