Christmas is a time of fun and excitement for children and families. During this time, most children are on school holidays and therefore spending a lot of time around the home or partaking in outdoor activities. This busy time of year can often cause disruption in routine for families, leading to potential lapses in concentration and supervision, which can cause an increase in preventable child injuries during this time.
New data released by Kidsafe WA, with the support of the Western Australian Department of Health shows that injuries over the Christmas period accounts for approximately 16 percent of all injury presentations to the Perth Children’s Hospital Emergency Department (PCH ED).
